For some time now I have noticed when out walking with Rusty, that far to the north east, Ben Cruachan has been showing a covering of snow. Winter is approaching, I thought. Here on the mild West Coast we do not usually see much snow and when we do get a covering it does not last long. What a difference recently. Snow has covered the country and we have had our share. However, unlike the rest of Scotland, it is very slowly disappearing. Milder weather is forecast for the next two days but then it is to turn colder again. So should I be “Dreaming of a White Christmas?” The weather man could be wrong!
Thinking of Christmas and what the future holds, I was reading today in Ezekiel chapter 21. It was talking about how wicked king Zedekiah would be taken into captivity. The last of the house of David. Attempts to re-establish the government were doomed to failure and there must have been many who said regarding the promise made to David, “Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore?” Psa 77:8
But in Ezekiel chapter 21 verse 27 we read “I will overturn, overturn, overturn, it: and it shall be no more, until he come whose right it is; and I will give it him.”
Almost six hundred years later …….”in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.
And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.” Luk 1:26-33
Promises of a white Christmas may be wrong, But God’s Word never is! HALLELUJAH!
