The Bible says that God is love. I don’t think a loving God will send anyone to hell.
It is true that love is an attribute of God, but it is only one of His attributes. Let’s consider just two of His other attributes. Firstly the Bible tells us that He is a holy God, separate from and exalted in infinite majesty far above all His creatures. “Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?”Exo 15:11 “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.” Isa 57:15
The Bible describes the behaviour of the angels in His presence, “And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isa 6:3b and tells us Isaiah’s response to the vision which he had of the glory of God “Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” Isa 6:5
Secondly there is God’s righteousness or justice. “Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.” Psa 89:14 also “And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:” 1Pe 1:17
We can see now that God is not only perfect love but that He is also perfectly holy and righteous. Unlike us He will not lie or change His mind. “Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.” Job 34:10-11 Jesus describes for us what will happen at the last judgement, “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” Mat 25:41
Don’t be fooled into believing that somehow it will be alright in the end, that God does not really mean what He says or that we will get a second chance.
“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” Num 23:19
“For the wages of sin is death;….. (and here’s the good news) …..but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Rom6:23
