Will I go to Heaven?
Ok, so the Bible says that everyone is a sinner and that all sinners go to hell. Does that mean that no one is going to heaven?
As we have seen, we have all been judged guilty by the righteous judgement of God, and as such we deserve punishment in this life and for all eternity. There is no way that God as a just and righteous Judge can disregard, overlook or in some other way pass from delivering the just sentence which His law demands.
“And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:” 1Pe 1:17
“Justice and judgment are the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.” Psa 89:14
“Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?” Job 8:3
At this point we could say with the disciples of Christ, “Who then can be saved?” Mar 10:26b. It seems impossible! As far as we are concerned, it is impossible! But listen to what Jesus goes on to say, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Mar 10:27b
God did an amazing thing, He gave His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ to perfectly keep His law which we had broken, and then take our place and punishment.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Joh 3:16
He willingly humbled Himself, being born as a man (yet without sin), kept perfectly God’s law, suffered and eventually died a cursed death on the cross where God the Father poured out on Him the wrath and punishment due to us for our sin.
“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Isa 53:4-6
And so the Bible tells us, “And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;” Rev 5:9
Does that mean then that everyone is going to heaven? No, for the Bible says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Joh 1:12-13
Let me now ask you a question. What is YOUR life? Is it the life of a sinner under God’s wrath and curse, separated from an eternal hell by a single breath? If so, God says
“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.” Isa 55:6-7
Don’t put it off, God says “Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” 2Co 6:2b
“And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” Mat 25:46.
What is YOUR life……….. do you really have one?
